This course teaches the workflow to efficiently geocode and create geographic features from tabular address data. All types of organizations collect and store mission-critical address information, such as customer, facility, or public safety incident locations. Geocoding, or the process of associating tabular data with locations on a GIS map, allows you to visualize address-based data in context with other geographic data, analyze patterns, quickly respond to events, and make informed decisions.
GIS professionals; business, marketing, and crime analysts; and other knowledge workers who need to view and analyze address-based information on a map.
Completion of ArcGIS II: Essential Workflows or Learning ArcGIS Desktop (for ArcGIS 10) or equivalent knowledge is required. Viewing the free training seminar Geocoding in ArcGIS Desktop 10 is recommended for those new to geocoding.
