Understanding Hazus-MH 2.0 Hurricane Model Results

Description

This course addresses the various hurricane model results that Hazus-MH can produce for a hurricane loss estimation study. In addition to providing an overview of the results formats (reports, tables, and maps), this course explores the model's analysis outputs, which include physical damages, utility and transportation damages, and economic losses (such as sheltering). You will learn how to apply these results for better decision making.

Community planners, emergency managers, academics, and any other person or organization involved with aspects of managing the risks to communities from hurricanes.

• List the key outputs of the aggregate inventory analysis.
• List the key outputs of the site-specific inventory analysis.
• Identify the key guidelines for properly interpreting and applying the outputs of the hurricane wind model.

To complete course exercises, you need the following software:

• ArcGIS 10.0 for Desktop (ArcView, ArcEditor, or ArcInfo)
• ArcGIS 10.0 SP1 for Desktop
• Hazus-MH 2.0
