Determining the optimal location for a new retail store, city park, cell phone tower, or exploratory well is a complicated process that involves many factors. While a human must decide which site ultimately will be selected, the analyst's job is to identify sites that meet project criteria. This course teaches how to use ArcGIS Spatial Analyst tools to perform different types of site selection analysis. You will learn how to quickly determine locations that meet all site criteria and how to perform a more refined analysis that incorporates rankings to identify acceptable locations that meet the most important criteria. You will also explore fuzzy logic tools for modeling inaccuracies and uncertainty inherent to data used in any type of GIS analysis.
GIS analysts, specialists, and professionals working in industries such as business, utilities, economic development, health and human services, environmental management, and mining.
