Integrating User-Supplied Hazard Data into the Hazus-MH Flood Model (for ArcGIS 9.3.1/Hazus-MH MR5)

  • Format: Web Course
  • Duration: 1 module (3 hours)
  • Price: $32 USD
  • ArcGIS Version: 9.3.1
  • Authored by Kevin Mickey

Description

This course teaches how to integrate hazard data created in other modeling applications into Hazus-MH in order to perform a more precise flood loss estimation study than is typically possible in a basic Hazus-MH analysis. You will learn about two options for integrating flood hazard data into a Hazus-MH flood study. The ability to integrate flood hazard data created in other models into Hazus-MH (where scientifically-based loss estimations can be generated) is especially important to individuals who plan to use Hazus-MH to support flood insurance studies or community planning goals. This course will prepare you to conduct these types of flood loss estimation studies within your own community.

Who Should Attend

Hazus-MH users who have developed or acquired information about flood hazards in their communities and wish to integrate that data into the Hazus-MH loss-estimation process. Flood engineers or those with equivalent experience will find the course of particular benefit.

Learn How To

  • Describe the process and requirements for using the Hazus-MH flood information tool to develop a flood depth grid that can be used in Hazus-MH for loss estimation purposes.
  • Describe how to integrate a user-defined flood depth grid into a Hazus-MH loss estimation process.
