Geoprocessing with ArcGIS Desktop

GIS analysts, specialists, and other experienced ArcGIS Desktop users

Prerequisites

Completion of ArcGIS Desktop II: Tools and Functionality or Learning ArcGIS Desktop or equivalent knowledge is required.

• Set up and modify the geoprocessing environment.
• Find and run the appropriate geoprocessing tools for a variety of tasks.
• Model workflows using geoprocessing tools and ModelBuilder.
• Create custom geoprocessing tools and models.
• Automate and refine geoprocesses using Python scripting.
• Document geoprocessing methods for reusability and sharing.

To complete course exercises, you need the following software:

• ArcGIS 9.2 for Desktop or ArcGIS 9.3 for Desktop (ArcView, ArcEditor, or ArcInfo)
• PythonWin 2.4 or PythonWin 2.5

Note: PythonWin 2.4 and 2.5 are available as free downloads. If you do not have PythonWin installed, instructions for downloading the appropriate version are provided in the relevant exercise.
