Introduction to Esri Defense Mapping (10.0)

Experienced ArcGIS users who need to produce data and maps under defense or military specifications and standards using Esri Defense Mapping.

Note: If you have taken one or more of the courses below, do not take this course as it covers some of the same topics. This course is a condensed version of the three courses below and as such does not cover every topic discussed in those courses.

• Cartography with Esri Production Mapping
• Data Editing with Esri Production Mapping
• Quality Control Using ArcGIS Data Reviewer

Prerequisites

Completion of ArcGIS Desktop II: Tools and Functionality or Learning ArcGIS Desktop is required. Completion of ArcGIS Desktop III: GIS Workflows and Analysis is recommended.

• Load data using the Data Loader.
• Edit features using Esri Defense Mapping tools.
• Run automated data validation checks.
• Symbolize features using Views and the Visual Specifications tool.
• Edit cartographic representations using the representation tools.
• Create and manage map documents with the Product Library.
• Create and process jobs using ArcGIS Workflow Manager.

Esri will provide the following software to use during class:

• ArcGIS 10.0 for Desktop (ArcInfo)
• Esri Defense Mapping 10.0
• Esri Production Mapping 10.0
