Geoportals organize content and services such as directories, search tools, community information, support resources, data, and applications. The ArcGIS Server Geoportal Extension is a combined technology and services solution for implementing local, regional, national, and global spatial data infrastructure (SDI) geoportals. The ArcGIS Server Geoportal Extension provides all the necessary elements of a successful geoportal through its framework, administration, publishing, harvesting, service preview interface, and desktop integration modules. In this course, you will gain hands-on experience in developing a working geoportal using the ArcGIS Server Geoportal Extension.

The course is designed for technical staff from an ESRI business partner, distributor, or distributor business partner who intend to implement the ArcGIS Server Geoportal Extension for end users. Large commercial businesses or organizations with in-depth ArcGIS Server experience are welcome to participate as well. After successful completion of the course, ESRI business partners, distributors, and distributor business partners may offer implementation services for the ArcGIS Server Geoportal Extension.

You should be able to create and troubleshoot ArcGIS Server map services, administer a Windows or UNIX operating system, and manage site administration and database storage (Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL). You should also know how to create database users and assign their privileges, use spatial and tabular data from a GIS application, and have experience with XML and XSLT.
