Streaming Technology

Streaming technology is a way of transferring multimedia files, such as movies and slide presentations, to your computer. Rather than downloading the file to your computer, it is sent across the Internet in a series of small pieces; i.e. a stream. The advantages are that you can start viewing more quickly, and don't have to wait for a long file download or store the file. Streaming requires a faster Internet connection and specialized software (often freely distributed).
