Search Tips

You may search the Library to find reference materials for a specific set of words and other criteria.

Basic search

For a basic search, type a word or words into the Search text box, and then click Search. The default "all words" in the pulldown window will automatically "and" 2 or more words. This means that each word entered will appear in the selected records in the results set.

The other options in the pulldown include:

Phrase: This will search for words adjacent to one another in exact order. No need to use quotes.

Title only: This will search for the chosen word or words in titles of records. This search will automatically "and" 2 or more words.

Use Boolean Operators (AND/NOT): You may opt to use these operators.

Advanced Search - Adding search criteria

To narrow and focus your search more than the basic search, click Advanced Search. You may choose specific values for the search criteria listed below:

Refer Format

Refer format is a file format used by many bibliographic programs. Refer format is a character-based format that uses single-character tags preceded by percent signs. You may e-mail references found in the Training and Education Library, and then import them into a bibliographic program that supports Refer format.

To e-mail a reference in Refer format, use the following steps:

  1. Log into the ESRI Training and Education site with your ESRI Global account.
  2. In your Search Results, check the box next to each reference you wish to send.
  3. At the top of the Search Results page, check the box next to Use Refer format.
  4. Make sure the e-mail address is correct in the space provided.
  5. Click the Send References button to e-mail the references in Refer format to the e-mail address you specified.
