How Do I Know What ArcGIS Software I Have?
ArcGIS is the name of Esri's family of GIS software products. Each ArcGIS Desktop product includes two applications: ArcMap and ArcCatalog.
- ArcMap is the application used to display and edit geographic data, perform GIS analysis, and create professional-quality maps, graphs, and reports.
- ArcCatalog is designed for browsing, managing, and documenting geographic data.
License Levels
ArcGIS includes three license levels for desktop use: ArcView, ArcEditor, and ArcInfo.
ArcView, ArcEditor, and ArcInfo all look and work the same-they differ only in how much they can do. ArcEditor does more than ArcView, and ArcInfo does more than ArcEditor. All ArcGIS products can share the same maps and data.
Note: If you already have ArcGIS open, you'll need to close it first in order to view the Desktop Administrator. These steps indicate the default program path.
