ArcGIS Desktop Foundational Training
With the release of ArcGIS 9.3, the ArcGIS Desktop foundational training curriculum has been redesigned and improved to better meet the needs of ESRI users. Below is an overview of the new ArcGIS Desktop foundational curriculum.
The ArcGIS Desktop I: Getting Started with GIS course was formerly titled Learning GIS Using ArcGIS Desktop.
- Is This Course For Me?
- This course is for those with no prior GIS education or workplace experience with GIS.
- What Will I Learn?
- You will learn fundamental GIS concepts and basic ArcGIS skills, which makes this course a good choice if you would like to take more advanced ArcGIS Desktop courses or would simply like to understand more about how GIS fits into your organization.
- Other Training Options
- If you are interested in Web-based training, Getting Started with GIS and Learning ArcGIS Desktop are designed for those new to GIS.
The ArcGIS Desktop II: Tools and Functionality course was formerly titled Introduction to ArcGIS I.
- Is This Course For Me?
- This course is for those who have an education in GIS or workplace experience with GIS but no ArcGIS Desktop software experience.
- What Will I Learn?
- You will learn the range of functionality in ArcGIS Desktop software and basic ArcGIS skills as well as the essential tools for visualizing, creating, managing, and analyzing geographic data.
- Other Training Options
- If you work for a geospatial intelligence or law enforcement organization, you should register for Introduction to ArcGIS for Geospatial Intelligence and Law Enforcement. If you are interested in Web-based training, you should register for Learning ArcGIS Desktop.
The ArcGIS Desktop III: GIS Workflows and Analysis course was formerly titled Introduction to ArcGIS II.
- Is This Course For Me?
- This course is for those who want to extend their basic ArcGIS skills in the areas of data creation and editing, geoprocessing models, and GIS analysis.
- What Will I Learn?
- This course builds upon ArcGIS Desktop II: Tools and Functionality to provide an understanding of how and when to apply ArcGIS tools and functions to create efficient GIS workflows. Course exercises give you a chance to organize and edit data in a geodatabase, prepare data for analysis, create and edit geoprocessing models, and work through a challenging analysis project.
- Other Training Options
- If you work for a geospatial intelligence or law enforcement organization and would like to learn about analysis methods and workflows using ArcGIS Spatial Analyst, you should register for Working with ArcGIS Spatial Analyst for Geospatial Intelligence.
